The purpose of these races was to celebrate the health of the Androscoggin River and the enjoyment of paddling or rowing on the river and all of Maine’s waters.  This event brought seasoned paddles and new paddlers and rowers together.

Winner of the Wilderness Systems 15’8” Alto sea kayak is Brunswick’s Brian Daniels and the winner of the Heritage Kayak’s 17’ Expedition Sit-on-Top kayak is Megan Hall of Orrs Island.   40% of the net proceeds will be given by Brunswick Rotary Club to the Town of Brunswick for the extension and upgrading of the Androscoggin Bike Path, 40% will go to Brunswick Rotary sponsored community and international programs and 20% will be used to make next year’s event a success. Next year’s event will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2003.
