WHAT: THREE COMPLETE SETS OF RACES : ROWING,
CHILDREN CANOE & KAYAK, ADULT CANOE, KAYAK, WAR CANOE
SPONSORED BY THE BRUNSWICK ROTARY CLUB in
conjunction with the Town of Brunswick, Brunswick Parks & Recreation
Department, Brunswick Police Department, Brunswick Fire Department and with
additional on water assistance by Department of Marine Resources. Event sponsors are listed below.
9;00 ROWING RACE . 3.4 miles as prescribed by the Maine Rowing Organization There
are age group classes.

CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH CANOE & KAYAK RACE RESULTS.. Race started at 11:30am, race was 2.0 miles in length. These races were sanctioned by the Maine Canoe & Kayaking Racing Organization for the Flatwater Series.

ADULT CANOE, WAR CANOE & KAYAK RACE RESULTS. Race started at 2:00 PM. Racing class went 7.2 miles and Recreation class went 5.4 miles. These races were sanctioned by the Maine Canoe & Kayaking Racing Organization for the Flatwater Series.

The purpose of these races was to
celebrate the health of the Androscoggin River and the enjoyment of paddling or
rowing on the river and all of Maine’s waters.
This event brought seasoned paddles and new paddlers and rowers together.
Winner of the Wilderness Systems 15’8” Alto sea kayak is Brunswick’s Brian Daniels and the winner of the Heritage Kayak’s 17’ Expedition Sit-on-Top kayak is Megan Hall of Orrs Island. 40% of the net proceeds will be given by Brunswick Rotary Club to the Town of Brunswick for the extension and upgrading of the Androscoggin Bike Path, 40% will go to Brunswick Rotary sponsored community and international programs and 20% will be used to make next year’s event a success. Next year’s event will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2003.
